What big eyes you have…

It’s challenge time over at Simply Steampunk Challenges and our theme this month is “make your own background”.  For my project I’ve used the gorgeous new Little Red from the Steampunk Fairy Tales and Myths collection at Simply B Stamps.

Now I’ve take the challenge and made my own background paper as well as my own background scene for Little Red.  The piece inside my tent card has been made using a stencil and embossing paste and embossing enamels.  I’ve also added a piece of clear plastic, cut from some packaging, to the circle window onto which I’ve adhered my wolf.  I used the same background piece for the bookmark on the front.

Yep, that’s a bookmark.

Here’s what the card looks like without the bookmark.

This time I made my own background for the image, taking the words to the Grimms’ fairy tale and printing them behind the outlined print of Little Red.  The current challenge over at Digi Haven is to make a bookmark so I’m entering this over there.

To make up my card I actually followed the current sketch at Sketch n’ Dies.  I did flip the sketch so the vertical element and banner were on the left and rather than a straight background I’ve added in the circle to enable me to do my tent card.

Left of Center has a die cuts challenge on at the moment, I’ve used not only my Nestie circles on this but also a Papertrey Ink banner die for the bookmark as well as cutting my wolf using my Cameo.  With my transparent piece supporting my wolf I’m also linking this over SanDee&amelie’s Steampunk Challenge.  With my digi image used twice I am also entering this in the current challenge at Through the Purple Haze.

Now won’t you come join our challenge too?  All you need do is go crazy with a sheet of blank paper to make your own background.  Sure, you can add a designer paper like I did but just one (yep, that’s all the one and same one) but we want to see your very own designer paper using stamps, stencils, mists, chalks, inks, you name it, just keep it Steampunk.

Dragon in Training

It’s challenge time at Simply Challenged Challenges and I have the honour of being a guest DT member.  The theme is fall colours (spice, turquoise and cream) and I am featuring the cute Chris and Appetite from the Teen Scene Dragon Pets collection at Simply B Stamps on my card.

This card will go to my nephew for his birthday, a little late but not sure at age 3 he will really notice.

As little Appetite has wings I’m entering this card in Brown Sugar’s current challenge #66.  My card layout is based on the sketch at Jo’s Scrap Shack, I’ve just used assorted birthday themed buttons instead of circles.  And with all those buttons I’m linking my card over at the current challenge at Totally Paper Crafts.

So won’t you grab your favourite SBS image and your fall colours and come play with us?  Needed some extra inspiration?  Check out the work by the awesome DT:

Sticking Pins in a Doll

Day 13 of my Spooktober personal challenge and I’m still hanging in there, it’s also Day 4 of the 13 Days of Halloween at Simply B Stamps with a theme of a toe tag.  Mine features a new digi, Voodoo Corinne.

For anyone on the SBS Fan Page, they know how much Corinne loves to stick pins in people so this image is just perfect for her!  I’ve cut the fake toe tag from some Echo Park paper and filled in some details for Corinne.

To make up the tag I cropped the voodoo doll from the image and placed them in a pattern to print on some more Echo Park paper.  There’s a recipe challenge at Totally Paper Crafts calling for one image (got that in Voodoo Corinne), two papers (I have two DP, I’m not counting the black tag itself) and three embellishments (I’ve got two pins and a flower) so I’m entering this in that challenge.  I’ve used twine on the tag instead of ribbon in keeping with the fact this is meant to be a toe tag and morticians don’t tie pretty bows with ribbon, at least I don’t think they do!  As I have an off the spool item I’m also entering it in the Halloween challenge at Ribbon Carousel.
