How the heart feels a languid grief...

It’s our second challenge over at Show Your Digi Love and I’ve made a special card featuring an image I’ve had for ages but never coloured up, the stunning Fairy Princess of Autumn by Enys Guerrero available at Sweet Pea Stamps.

My card is actually a box card; I followed a tutorial over at Noor Design by Tiets.  It’s supposed to have tea light candles in it but is going to someone who doesn’t really use them so I’m going to fill it with chocolates instead.  Here’s what the inside looks like, it’s hard to tell in the photo but the gold medallion in the middle on the right side is actually printed on organza ribbon, which is there to hold the chocolates in but in real life is see-through so you can actually see what’s inside the box.

As this is really a glorified gift box and it is for a gift (a thank you for someone whose place I’m staying at for a crafty weekend), I am entering it in the current challenge at Hanna and Friends.

The front of the card follows the current sketch over at Chocolate, Coffee & Cards, a great one that allowed me to add lots of delightfully shabby elements.  To pick those elements I’ve played along with the tic tac toe challenge at Fussy and Fancy.  I really couldn’t pick a column or row so I just went with every one of the elements as they were all fabby so I have a charm (I’m thinking the Tim Holtz Foliage counts as a charm, it’s metal and has a loop to hang it),  several die cuts (the corner element, the oval and the label on the tag inside, lace (love the one I used, sadly it is no longer available), dry embossing on the corner die cut (it’s a bit hard to see as I’ve covered a bit of it but the label is also embossed), ribbon (two kinds, the organza and the jute), pearls (around the oval frame), a sentiment (on my tag), wet embossing (the sentiment on the tag, which is why it’s a bit difficult to actually read it!) and sparkle (I used gilding flakes on the embossing, also the gold veins on the leaves and the glittery printing on the organza ribbon).

And a closer look at the tag I made (needed somewhere to write a message!).

I love how this turned out and am really happy with my colouring of the image; she is such a beautiful image.

Now hopefully I’ve inspired you to go through your own digi stash, yes, that one you have full of gorgeous and fun images you’ve never got around to colouring, and join us at Show Your Digi Love.  Our challenges are always anything goes and just for fun (a fab badge is yours though and guest DT spot if you want it) and this month we are asking you to choose your favourite image from Aurora Wings, The East Wind and Sweet Pea Stamps.  We’d love to see your makes with one of the fab images from one of these talented artists, or even all three!
