When the moon is in the seventh house…

I’m sharing a card today made using Aquarius Betty from Simply B Stamps.

As this card is for an 18th I didn’t go CAS, like I’ve been doing so far this year, but more of my usual style of lots of layers.  I’ve also done this up as an easel card although I did still use a sketch from Sketch Saturday, #223 to be exact.  With my extra fold I am entering my card over at Alphabet Challenge.

This is how it looks open.

My card features Aquarius as that is the recipient’s star sign.  I did cut off the water that was drawn on the image and added in my own with some gel medium for some added interest.  To keep with the astrological theme I edged the circle element from the sketch with a starry border and to keep with the water theme used tulle trim and pearls for the horizontal element.

As the zodiac is based around mythology (one version of the story has Aquarius based on Ganymede, cup bearer to the Olympian gods) I am also entering my card in the current challenge at Get Creative.

…the opposite of an Introduction…

I have a CAS card today featuring the sweet Aida Gonna Miss You from Tiddly Inks.

To make up my card I followed the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  As I wasn’t adding any embellies I matted the image on some cardstock I coloured with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and drew in some faux stitches around the image for some added interest.

Over at Craft for the Craic their current challenge is January Blues, to be interpreted in any way you like.  I’ve gone literally with some blue on my image and my cardstock.  The theme of the card is also somewhat blue, as in sad, as it is for a colleague who is leaving.  I think the image looks a bit sad, not sure my colleague is very sad in heading off but I know I will miss her bubbly personality.

I have used a Tiddly Inks image and for a change my card fits the theme at their challenge so I can enter, yippee!  My sentiment doesn’t just wish my colleague well but includes a thank you as she really has helped me out in the time we have worked together.

But through the clouds I’ll never float…

Another day, another male card and another Bird Crazy stamp from Tim Holtz.

January has proven very busy for male birthdays and I am loving how quick and easy it is to make a masculine card with these Bird Crazy stamps.  This card follows the sketch over at Sunday Stamps, which I flipped.  I made the shaped element using a stencil and some Distress Ink in Mowed Grass softened with Peeled Paint.  I then stamped my crazy bird in Archival Ink and coloured him up.  I added in a sentiment but the birdie looked like he was looking at something off in the distance so I went in and added the balloon floating away.  I deliberately stamped it off the edge to add to the impression it was drifting away.

This isn’t quite a one layer card, I double matted the white cardstock to add some weight and a nice border but it is still CAS so I am entering it in the current challenge at Craft Rocket.  Over at Cute Card Thursday they are looking for masculine projects, which my card is, so I am also linking my card there.
