…abhorré de la lune

The card I’m sharing is ready for Hallowe’en and features one of the zombie images from Trick or Eat!  a retired set from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps.

I’ve had all sorts of fun making up this card using an unconventional card base.  I like to think I’ve made my scene rather scary and spooky; I’ve certainly picked my embellies with that theme in mind rather than a cutesy Hallowe’en.  Hence the skulls and bones and the adult touch of wine and wine glasses and the graveyard setting; as such I’m entering my card in the current challenge at Try it on Tuesday.

Once I’d decided on a graveyard scene and the spooky angle I went hunting through my dies for bits to work in with that theme.  While my gravestones are a bit small proportionally they were the only dies I had that worked and allowed me to create the two tiers.  To give added authenticity to the graves I used some Distress Embossing Powder for a worn stone look and added in some engraving with some Remnant Rubs.  The two spooky tree dies were the perfect backdrop to the zombie image.  I was going to run them through a wood grain embossing folder before inking only to find that I couldn’t find that embossing folder so instead used more Distress Embossing Powder.  I used two different colours and then inked with Picket Fence to create a gnarled and eerie look to the trees.

My wine bottles are Tim’s Tiny Vials and I melted embossing powder in them for the wine.  I decided to break one to match my broken wine goblet ~ those zombies really know how to party hard!  Aged Mahogany Distress Paint made for great spilled wine.  My candies are various sized beads wrapped in foil and I’ve contained them in a rubber duckie floatie stamped from the same image.  I just masked off the bits of zombie and filled in the gaps with a paint marker.  After colouring with Enamel Accents I flipped the image over to show the shiny side of the acetate I stamped on to give the effect of the plastic material floaties are made of.  I threw in some bones, left overs from the zombies’ party snacks.

The sentiment is from another Kraftin’ Kimmie stamp set, A Treat for Someone Sweet!.  My grass is also done with Distress Embossing Powder, which gave an awesome grassy effect.  The die cut gate got a layer of Fran-tage in Aged Silver that created the perfect aged metal effect.

With all my embossing I am also entering my card in the current challenge at Addicted to Stamps.  I’m also linking up my card at Cardz 4 Galz as I have more than one die on it, five actually, six if you count the graveyard border twice.  And although my card is a bit spooky it is heading out to a crafty gal friend of mine who loves all things zombies, spooky and Hallowe’en.

And here is a close-up of the fab zombie image.
