Swervy suave severity

I have a CAS card to share that I made up today for a colleague.

To make up the card I’ve followed the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, they are a CAS style challenge and that’s what I needed for this card as it is going to a male.  I resized the sketch to a 6x6 and printed it out and then cut out the three vertical elements to use as templates.

I used the Tic Tac Toe board at another CAS challenge site, CAS-ual Fridays, to help complete my card, I’ve gone with dots (the Candi) and grey for my colour scheme.  I already had twine from the sketch so that gave me my three in a row.   Tic Tac Toe challenges are great for helping you use your neglected stash, like my Candi that has been in my stash for near on two years and rarely ever used.

I am the world’s worst stamper so my sentiment is a bit blurry, I wanted to add interest so I used Fran-tage to emboss these so I am also entering this in the current challenge over at a A Gem of a Challenge.

Despite the dodgy stamping I think this turned out quite well.  I’ve kept my embellies masculine too, I didn’t have an appropriate button so I went with a car part from the Junkyard Findings’ range and some screw brads.  I love my metal embellies and I do love things a bit grungy, hopefully so too will my colleague.

Out on Good Behaviour

So it’s Day 5 of the 13 Days of Halloween at Simply B Stamps and the theme is Scary Women with anything goes for the project.  I’ve done a Halloween card featuring Skeleton Key Samantha from this year’s Lady Killers collection.

I thought I’d be a bit cheeky with Samantha but still keep it PG, if not G rated, so the inside says…

The card follows the sketch over at Here Come the Boys where the challenge is always to make a male card, this one is definitely meant to be given to a male for Halloween.  I did add some embellies but I figure metal works for men, they like all that sort of stuff and I do have a huge stash of metal embellies I just have to use!  I needed to cover up where I’d cut off the charm loops (they wouldn’t sit right with them still on) so I added just a little bit of non-girly bling too.

With my two different embellies and the three different designer papers and my one image, this also fits the recipe at A Gem of a Challenge so I’m entering my card in that challenge also.

Won't You Share My Umbrella

Today I’m sharing another one of the beautiful Steampunk Zodiac images from Simply B Stamps, this one is Aquarius.

To make up my card I followed a sketch at Crafting Life’s Pieces.  I made the background paper by taking some quotes from my favourite book, Persuasion, and using the Jane Austen font to print them in a soft copper colour on a piece of aged looking paper.

I also made the umbrella using the Tim Holtz Mini Bird and Cage die; I got the idea from my awesome teamie, Jenny (go check out her fabby umbrella and blog).  I used some mesh ribbon and fabric for the ‘skin’, made the spine a bit fancy with some pearls and the handle is a piece of Mizuhiki (Japanese paper cord).
