For I, except you enthral me, never shall be free…

I don’t do a lot of just because crafting but my card today is exactly that and it features a beautiful image from Sureya called The Strapped Bride, which is available to colour as a freebie on DeviantART.

I was thinking to make this a Steampunk themed card hence the grungy kind of green wedding dress and lace, I was even going to use some pipe embellies but it didn’t quite work out that way.

I bought the paper from Kaisercraft yesterday from my LSS, which is sadly closing down.  It was just perfect for the image and the sketch I followed from Paperminutes.  To jazz it up even more I added Fran-tage to some of the roses on one of the papers.  I have the perfect black paper with a shiny raised print in black that I was going to mount the image on but I couldn’t find it among my stash.  So I made my own with some more Fran-tage, I love the effect so I think I’m going to use it again.

I added the bow element to echo the big bows on the image.  I’m loving my Bow-it-All for making perfect bows.  I also used some leather cord threaded through the lace picking up the straps from the image, I just didn’t have any buckles in my stash so had to go with a ribbon threader instead, which was silver so got covered in some Rub’nBuff.  I also added Rub’nBuff to the Freckled Fawn embellie I added to the centre of the bow as I wanted a gold centre but couldn’t find anything in my stash to suit.  The embellies were going to make this Steampunk but nothing I had in metal suited what turned out to be more grungy vintage.  Despite going off on a different tangent to what I planned I love how this turned out.

With my lovely big bow I’m entering this in the current 4 Crafty Chicks’ challenge.  I’m also entering this in the current Outlawz Paper Ala Mode challenge ‘fancy smancy’, I think with all my added embossed details, the gold trimmed ribbon, lace and bling it is a rather fancy card, even if I haven’t worked out what occasion I’d use it for!
