… ornaments that have become part of the family

Sharing another Christmas card I’m adding to my stash, this one’s made with the
String of Lights die from Lawn Fawn.

I’ve had this die for a little while but haven’t used it before, I was waiting for the right kind of inspiration and I found it in the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch.  I thought the loopy string and fun lights would make the perfect thing to form the wavy lines.  I needed some more lines to match the sketch, cue one of the ‘roads’ from the Build a Scene: On the Road set by Taylored Expressions.

I inlaid die cut the two wavy borders, not sure I’m lovely the colour of those.  I used a Nuvo metallic pen in cooper to colour them and then added glossy accents, think a gold would have been a better match.  I’ve then used multiple layers of die cuts for the lights, the centre lime one is three high, the blue four and the raspberry has six layers.  The silvery caps are also layered; I cut a slit in each of these so they could actually be string through the loops.

I went with these funky colours as the current challenge at Watercooler Wednesday is asking for non-traditional colours.  Hence my lovely daffodil coloured sentiment too, from a retired Kraftin’ Kimmie set.  My white Enamel Accents have gone a bit off so my shine on my lights is a bit meh, wishing now I’d cut them out of white cardstock and layered up.  Pretty happy though with the lovely sparkle and shine (which of course doesn’t show up in the photo) done with a layer of clear Wink of Stella and some glossy accents.

I’ve gone funky in joining the Christmas cracker fun over at Fab’n’Funky for their current challenge too.

  3. Hi Emily, what a stunning Christmas card! Love those wavy lines and think the colour is just right. Gold would have called more attention to the lines when what you want to highlight is the bright and gorgeous die-cut lights on their string. Great idea having the base of each light in Silver Glimmer paper. Love the colours. Love the clean and simple lines. Great work! Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
