Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life

My card today features an awesome image from The Stamping Chef called The Artist.

Now Tamara, the Stamping Chef herself, is running a competition to be the ‘colouring face’ of the Stamping Chef, details can be found over in the shop where you buy the image.  I couldn’t resist entering as it would be such an honour to have my colouring featured on her shop.  Also the image was clearly going to be a challenge with all that curly hair so I really wanted an excuse to colour it up.

Of course, once it was coloured I had to put The Artist on a card.  I followed the current sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 to make up my card and selected papers that made me think of painting and paints.  I don’t know how long I’ve had the Echo Park or Little Yellow Bicyle pads I used, they’ve been in my stash for a good while so I’m entering my card in Crafty Creations’ current challenge to use something old from your stash.

As always my card is a 6x6 square, so I am also entering it in the current challenge at The Crafter’s Café.  I made the circle elements I mounted the iamnge on using my trusty Nesties, layering a plain circle on a blossom pattern.  I also made my own embellies with some pretty butterflies from a Marianne Design Creatables die.  With my die cuts I am entering this in the current PDE Linky Party challenge.  To finish off my butterflies I added in some adhesive pearls and mounted them on some lace tape, another thing I’ve had in my stash for ever, and pearl trim so I am also linking my card up at Divas by Design.

Seeing I have used a Stamping Chef image on my card I am also entering it in their current challenge, where its always anything goes.

And sweet as English air could make her…

It’s Wednesday and that means a new sketch to play with over at the Outlawz and the card I’ve made with the sketch features Pink Rose and Shimmer Chiffon from our fabulous sponsor, The East Wind.

And here’s this week’s sketch.

With such a beautiful and feminine image I just had to go shabby with this card.  I inked the lovely Marianne die with Distress Ink in Tea Dye and then added in some gilding roughly with my finger and found the pretty Prima trim in my stash.  With all my shabbilicious elements I am entering this over at Fun with Shapes and More.

I only recently found and fell in love the Very Vintage Double Dot paper from BoBunny and scoured the ’net to find some.  It goes beautifully with the image and the shabby chic theme and is so very pretty, so I’m linking up my card over at Cute Card Thursday where their current theme is pretty papers.

The sketch only called for one embellie on each horizontal element but I wanted something more than just the three large flowers I used, I tried different smaller flowers but they were all too much.  Then I thought, what does this beautiful lady need to complete her outfit and I realised of course that she needed a fan.  I was sure I had some fan charms in my stash and sure enough I did, lovely large open ones and they were exactly what I needed to complete my card.  The current challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow calls for a charm so I am also entering my card over there.

Sure hope you’ll come join in the fun over at the Outlawz, there’s a different challenge for each day of the week and always loads of inspiration from the various DTs.
