...with a spooky little girl like you

Are you counting down to Halloween yet?  Over at Simply B Stamps Halloween preparations are in full swing with an awesome new release of Jude and the Rockers’ images in the Little Tricksters collection and I am featuring two little cuties from it on my cards today.

My first has the gorgeous Lily Octopus, who I just had to colour in lovely shades of purple.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch over at Technostamper.  It provided all the right elements to showcase Lily, add the sentiment that comes with her, and my favourite kind of embellies, a flower.

As I coloured Lily up in purples I’ve used the same colour as the base for my colour scheme for my card, which of course works well for a Halloween card.  It’s also the current theme over at Glitter n Sparkle where I am entering my card.  I opened my Kaisercraft 13th Hour paper pad for the various layers using three different ones, my orange banner was from scraps and is from Echo Park.  As I have the requisite three patterned papers I’m also linking up my card at PDE Linky Party.

My second card features the cute Little Ali Pumpkin and is more of a CAS style.

This time I’ve used Retrosketches’ current sketch for my card layout.  I thought the ‘rays’ would look good embossed so I used a stencil and some Perfect Medium before sprinkling on some embossing powder.

The Kraft paper and copper embossing powder give the background a decidedly pumpkin feel, well, they do for me any way.  With my Kraft paper I am entering my card at My Time to Craft and as Ali is just adorable I am also linking this up at Creative Fingers’ current challenge.

If, as mine is, thy life a slumber be…

The Baby Teen Scene collection has been released at Simply B Stamps and this card features the cute Nap Time Miller from the collection.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch over at Seems a Little Sketchy.  For a change I didn’t resize to fit my usual 6x6 card instead I resized to be a DL size as that’s the current theme at My Time to Craft.  We won’t talk about the sheet of cardstock I messed up in printing my logo on the back, it’s tricky working with a card that’s a rectangle, you’ve got to get things placed just right and I didn’t set my printer properly.  Starting with an 8x8.25 piece of card means no second go at the one sheet like a 6x6 but I think the size worked well for the image and the sketch.

I found the plaid paper in my Graphic 45 stash; it reminds me of a blanket so worked perfectly for this image.  I wanted to keep things fairly simple as this is a boy card so went for textures and all shades of blue.  I swapped out the plain oval element for the scalloped Nestie to give more of a cloud impression, a bit of Fran-tage on the outline added to the effect.  The puffy sticker from Freckled Fawn was a serendipitous find in my stash, the right colour and the perfect sentiment.

As this card is for a boy and features a die cut I’ve got both themes covered for the current Ladybug Crafts’ challenge so I’m also entering it there.

To see more of these awesome images, head on over to the SBS blog and check out what the rest of the DT have done with them.  You can also see more of my projects featuring Blankie Chris at this post, Rockin’ Baby Christian over here and Rubber Ducky Jude at this post.  Oh, and stay tuned to see what I’ve done with the awesome girls in this collection because you knew there had to be equally cute girlie images!

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication

This is my second card featuring one of the new Birthday Betty Boos from Simply B Stamps; this one is Elegant Birthday Portrait.

I needed a card that was elegant but simple for a friend whose style that is and this was the perfect image for that theme.  To make it up I have followed the current sketch at Unscripted Sketches.  I flipped the sketch and one of the oval elements around to suit the shape of my image.  I’ve also stuck to a black and white colour scheme, as there is nothing more elegant than black and white, with a pop of red on for the dress as a nod towards my friend’s birthplace, China.

With a CAS style I was never going to have any designer papers on this card but I think this shows how beautiful a card can be without them.  The current theme over at My Time to Craft is no designer papers so I am entering my card there.

And if youre looking for the next stop on the SBS birthday blog hop, head on over to the lovely blog of Rebecca or else head back to the SBS blog to start from the beginning; the DT girls have done some gorgeous work with all the images from the Birthday Betty Boo collection.
