...moonstruck with music and madness

The card I’m sharing today features a cute image from Kraftin’ Kimmie called Holly Hip Hop.

Now Holly is a rubber stamp and I am not the world’s best stamper so normally I stick to digi but I had to have Holly because as soon as I saw her I thought of my niece.  So I bought the rubber stamp and tried out my new Rock-a-Blocks, which were recommended by a friend, and made up a card for my niece’s eighth birthday next weekend.

I figured if I was going to get out of my comfort zone with a rubber stamp I might as well go all the way out and try the no lines technique and I love how it turned out.  Although I did muddle my light source in the end, more to do with me trying to finish this when I was tired than the no lines technique.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch over at Techno Stamper, I just swapped out the plain circle element for a scalloped one and the snowflake for a flower.  I’ve also turned this into an easel card to make it a bit more special for my niece.

I’ve got quite a few die cuts on this card so I am entering it in the current challenge at Fab‘n’Funky.  Little Red Wagon currently have a washi tape theme for their challenge and that inspired me to actually get out some of my huge store of washi tape, using it for my two rectangular elements.

Happy Birthday Sharman

I have a card today for the very lovely Sharman whose birthday it is and my card is featuring her commissioned image from Simply B Stamps.

I decided to do something extra special for Sharman who is just the loveliest person so have done a tepee card in a shabby chic style.  I’ve got lots of lovely flowers and die cuts and pearls and some distressing happening to go into my card.  As this is an extra special card I am entering it in the current The ABC Challenge.

Here's the left hand side.

And the right.

Fussy and Fancy are running a two of a kind challenge at the moment and I have lots of pairs on this.  I have two flourish die cuts, two pairs of paper roses, two pearl flourishes, two die cut labels and two rub-on sentiments.

I’ve never made a tepee card before but it was very easy to do and it is a nice change from a regular card.  Being a different card form I am also entering my card in Bastel-traum’s current challenge.

Happy 30th Birthday Louise

Today is the 30th birthday of one of my lovely teamies from Simply B Stamps, Louise, and Betty drew up this gorgeous image of Louise for us to make her a special card.

I’ve made mine into a pop-up box card, my first one of these and I am pretty happy with how it turned out.  I followed a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers to make up my card and, as it is a different folded card I’m entering it in the current challenge at ScrapbookerPhD.

Being for a 30th birthday I had to make this special and how better than some sparkly golden elements, which I have in my chippie lettering and embellies and even on the 30 Louise is sitting on, although that doesn’t show so well in the photo.  With all my sparkle I am entering my card over at 4 Crafty Chicks.  Stars are the current theme at Cute Card Thursday and I have plenty of those so I am also entering their challenge.

Christmas day, the Aussie way

I’ve got a non-traditional Christmas card to share featuring Summer Time Betty from the new Summer Babes collection from Simply B Stamps.

Yes, I’ve put a swimsuit wearing, summer themed Betty on my Christmas card.  Why?  Well my sentiment says it all, this is an Aussie Christmas when the sun is baking hot, the water is warm and togs (swimwear) are the perfect apparel.  I just covered the bow on her hat with some holly and berry and gave her some Christmas coloured spots on her swimmers.

To make up my card I followed the current card sketch over at Feeling Sketchy, swapping out the butterflies for some Christmassy white berries and a seashell.  I also printed my sentiment (a mix of my own and the word art that comes with the image) on a die cut that looked a bit like a sun rather than just having a plain circle element.

Christmas is the theme over at Crafty Catz so I am entering my card in their current challenge.  I’ve also used a lot of green on my card so I’m aslo entering it in the current challenge at Crafty Hazelnuts’ Christmas Challenge.
