Happy Birthday Sharman

I have a card today for the very lovely Sharman whose birthday it is and my card is featuring her commissioned image from Simply B Stamps.

I decided to do something extra special for Sharman who is just the loveliest person so have done a tepee card in a shabby chic style.  I’ve got lots of lovely flowers and die cuts and pearls and some distressing happening to go into my card.  As this is an extra special card I am entering it in the current The ABC Challenge.

Fussy and Fancy are running a two of a kind challenge at the moment and I have lots of pairs on this.  I have two flourish die cuts, two pairs of paper roses, two pearl flourishes, two die cut labels and two rub-on sentiments.

I’ve never made a tepee card before but it was very easy to do and it is a nice change from a regular card.  Being a different card form I am also entering my card in Bastel-traum’s current challenge.

That is our Intergalactic Flying Space Saucer

It’s one of my nephew’s birthday so I searched through my digi stash and found the adorable Pwew pwew pwewJude from the Jude and the Rockers’ Space collection at Simply B Stamps that I knew would make an awesome card for a little boy.

To make up my card I followed the sketch over at Creaine, which gave me the idea of having Jude ‘busting’ through and hence my sentiment too.  With my faux ripped design I didn’t need any embellies, which works well for a boy and a young child.  I did put Jude on some Action Wobbles though, to help give the impression of him flying through the air.

Over at Craft for the Craic they’re looking for project suitable for a child, which my card had better be given my nephew is only turning five so I’m entering their challenge.  And being for a child I chose papers in vibrant colours (they look brighter in real life, I’m yet to master lighting on my photos) so I’m also entering my card in the current challenge over at The ABC Challenge.

Seven, eight, lay them straight

I’ve got another double layout from my baby book to share today, this one features

the sweet Baby Doll Betty from the Baby Teen Scene collection at Simply B Stamps.

Brings back memories of your own little dolly when you were a girl, doesn’t she?  This layout is for recording all of baby’s favourite things so I’ve gone with embellies that are all about toys.  Baby Doll Betty was also therefore the perfect image to fit the page theme.  I made the baby blocks title myself with shrink film.

To make up the layout I followed the sketch over at Sketchy Colours, which I flipped on its side, and where the challenge was also to use white and one other colour.  My other colour is pink although I know there is some purple on the page too, there wasn’t a pink rattle button in the set I used or any other toy button I could use to even up my embellies.  There’s also some brown on the rocking horse button, again there was only one white one in the pack and of course my picture features skin tone and I added in some purple to match up with the embellies.  So I guess I haven’t really nailed the challenge, it was, well, a real challenge finding enough embellies to suit!

I did get the theme right for ABC Challenges as I have a whole string of lovely pink pearls on this page so I am entering this over there.  I am also entering my layout in the current challenge at Just Inspirational as I have the requisite three or more layers.

…how strange is that clinging love we have of life…

This is my second project featuring one of the new commissioned images from Simply B Stamps, this one is Franken Cutie Helen, and she really is a cutie.

As these images are commissioned there is no theme to the collection so you really get images to suit any occasion, from the inspirational Fight for the Cause Nancy in my previous card to this image perfect for Halloween.  Not that I’ve really used a Halloween theme on this card, mostly because I won’t be waiting til Halloween to send this one.

My card follows the current sketch at Jo’s Scrap Shack, a sketch that was perfect for Franken Cutie Helen and the ‘stitched together’ theme I was going for.  I’ve used stitching on this as well as distressing, a couple of techniques I am particularly fond of.  With my featured techniques I am entering this in the current challenge over at Scrapping4fun.  This card features a couple of other things I am particularly fond of too, flowers and lots of layers.  I realy do love layering up my cards to show off various designer papers and really add weight and dimension.  It’s L for layers over at ABC Challenges so I’m also entering my card over there.
