Thou wait beside me for the wind to blow...

A colleague at work got engaged last week and this is the card I made for her featuring You and Me from Tiddly Inks.

To colour the image I actually copied the way Alyce from Kit and Clowder coloured the image, even using her colour combination for the dress and suit.  I hope to be able to colour well enough in the future to be able to determine the pleats and folds in clothing without a visual guide but in the meantime I am thankful for the talent of others that they share on their blogs.  For awesome colouring I recommend checking out Alyce’s blog, she is phenomenal with hair and clothing.

I was going for a very romantic feel to this card so there are lots of roses and lacy edges and Fran-tage and loveliness to it.  When open as an easel it still looks like the sketch from A Creative Romance I followed but when closed up you can really see the sketch.

I raided my stash for all of my co-ordinating embellies in soft pastel colours and, where I didn’t have the right colour or couldn’t find it my Copics or Distress Markers came out to match them.  I coloured my gems with Copics and the chippie banner with a Distress Marker, the latter got some Fran-tage around the edge to make it extra special.  The Creative Memories’ sticker has been in my stash for a long time but was perfect for an engagement card and thankfully the Kaisercraft Sparklet Hearts came in the right colour too.

The love charms are from Prima, they were hanging off a metal branch so I unhooked them and added them to the beaded trim from my LSS that fit better with the romantic style.  Nesties are my weakness but when they look as gorgeous as these it’s hard to resist them!

My card is definitely a love thing so I am entering it in the current challenge over at Jo’s Scrap Shack.  I have five layers if you count the card base on the front of my card plus two sentiments (outside and in or is it both outside when set up as an easel?!) so I am also linking my card at Sentimental Sundays.
