It ain’t the clothes that make the cowgirl…

I’m sharing a card I made for my niece featuring Cowgirl Mae from Some Odd Girl.

My colour scheme comes from the current challenge at Just Add Ink.  I don’t have any Stampin’ Up! inks or cardstock so I had to hunt out equivalents, which I did using a conversion to Copics and then matching my inks and cardstock to the Copic markers.  I made my own background paper using Tim Holtz’s Plaid stamp, a nod to the check shirts often associated with country people.  I wasn’t game to try and colour Cowgirl Mae’s shirt in plaid though given the Copic colour combo that went most closely with the Soft Sky Stampin’ Up! colour.

I made up my card following the current sketch over at Sketch Saturday.  I wasn’t thinking too well when I cut my two plaid pieces and ended up with too much gap in the middle so I decided to add another thin strip of Flamingo to tie in with the circle frame.  Rather than a sentiment I’ve just added the number 13 as, scarily, my niece is turning 13.  As the current theme at the Alphabet Challenge is numbers I am entering my card there.

  1. Emily, this is delightful - I'm sure your niece will LOVE her card! The stamped background is awesome, and I like your use of numbers, for your niece's age, in place of a sentiment. Cute image, too. Thanks for joining in the fun at Just Add Ink; you've used the challenge colours beautifully.
