Sharing a birthday
card I made for a friend who is a huge Wonder Woman fan featuring Superbella from
Stamping Bella.
I have a terrible
habit of not connecting birthdays with dates and this was one of those occasions,
if you asked me I’d have been able to tell you the date of my friend’s birthday
(1 April) but even if you asked me yesterday I’d probably have not realised it
was the day. That’s why I have reminders
in my phone set for the morning. Luckily
I had no grand plans yesterday so when the reminder went off I set about making
a card. I always start by checking out
challenges to help with designing my card and luckily Sweet Stampin’ is running
a bingo challenge and the right column reminded me I had bought a stamp for
this occasion.
Do you ever do
that? Buy a stamp or digi or embellie or
paper because you know they would be perfect for someone only to forget by the
time you need to make the card? I do it
all the time! Luckily not this time as the combination of stars, stripes and grey
made me think of Wonder Woman and reminded me that I had bought the Stamping
Bella stamp. My craft room is a disaster
area at the moment so she took some finding but I did and so she made it onto this
card. I did do some creative colouring,
using the no lines method, so I could make her into the movie rather than TV
series version.
Over at the C.R.A.F.T.challenge they want to see non-square or rectangular cards, which made me
decide to put Superbella on a Wonder Woman shield. I made my shield with a range of circular
dies and created a 3D effect by shaping the edges of the layers and popping
them up on 3D Zots. Gotta love the Make
it Crafty chippies and I had the perfect stars from them I turned silver with
some embossing powder to add to the shield, and, yep, I am that pedantic that I
counted the stars on a pic of the shield from the movie and matched the number
on mine! Finally, I swapped out the W symbol
in the centre for a birthday suitable sentiment, a stamp from Close To My Heart
a crafty friend sent me for my birthday.
I hand drew the wings on the side and embossed both in silver.
Wonder Woman may
not have wings or pixie ears but she is an Amazon and therefore a mythical
being, Greek mythology that is. So I am
also entering my card in the current challenge at Inkspirational.
I am pretty happy
with how this card turned out. And to
prove why I love to papercraft above all others, here’s a pic of my very sad
looking Wonder Woman shield chocolate freckles I made my friend. Freckles being her favourite chocolates, hopefully
she will forgive the wonky shield decorations!
