…sometimes these are cinnamon and spices, you know

Unbelievably I am here sharing a Christmas card I just made, on the 2 January, and it’s actually for this year not late for last year!

I had to make 112 cards last year, pretty much production lined them so this year I wanted to start early and make a few special ones for crafty friends.  I’ve also decreed this year to be the year of shaker cards so my first Christmas card is a (somewhat) shaker.  My glitter has sort of stuck to the acetate so it doesn’t shake too well sadly.

My card layout is based on the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, although not sure my card is actually truly CAS.  Probably should have left off the cinnamon stick but I found it in my stash and it smelt so Christmassy that I just had to use it.

I chose my die cuts based on the current challenge theme at Christmas Cards All Year ’Round.  Was a great opportunity to crack open my Tim Holtz Paper Snowflakes Mini dies and I made sure I used six different ones in keeping with each snowflake being unique.

For my colour scheme I was inspired by the colour palette at Weekly Christmas Card Challenge.  I picked up the wood panel from the inspiration photo in the designer paper I used for background.  From the colour palette I went with a soft fawn cardstock for the top layer and also my card base.  Also picked up the browns in the glitter I used (gotta love Tim’s Vintage Platinum) and the cinnamon stick as well as in the highlight of the debossed lettering on the Typed Token.

Although it doesn’t really shake I am really pleased with the card.  It’s simple but a bit special and, apart from trying to the get the top layer on straight when I couldn’t turn it over because it was full of glitter (yes, sadly it is really that crooked!), it was pretty quick and easy to make.  Oh, and did I mention is smells Christmassy?  Yum!
